I was born in Southern California and lived all over the area until my family managed to settle down in Whittier, California. Whittier was a great town in Los Angeles County and I remember it as a simple community where all my neighbors came from honest means. It wasn't Bel Air, but it wasn't a seedy part of town by any measure either. Unfortunately, my family had to move once more in October 2006 and decided to make a life in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been living in Salt Lake City for about 10 years now and thankfully, we've finally found some stability here and have since grown into this wonderful community.
When I first arrived, I remember that high school was a drastic change for me but I graduated within a couple of years in 2008 and managed to make new friends so it turned out fine in the end. Once I started working full time, I got the chance to meet new people and further expand my interests as many young adults do. The jobs I often found myself in though were jobs which had few prospects for a stable future or upward mobility. I then decided that what I needed was a college degree in order to succeed in the future. So, I returned to school at Salt Lake Community College back in the Fall semester of 2010. At first, managing school and work was a breeze but I was frustrated with how slow my progress was. I tried working in order to save and then would go through periods of full time study but I was not progressing as fast as others were which was very fustrating to me.
Since then, I have decided to stay in school exclusively in order to get ahead as quickly as possible. I graduated from SLCC in 2016 and am now working on a bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Utah. I was also hired in October 2015 as a mathematics and science tutor at SLCC and am enjoying the opportunity to share what I have learned up until this point with others who are trying to get ahead in life as well. Thank you and I wish you only the best in life and in your education.
